A 26-inch glass cymbal made to be played and, eventually, broken — the title is its whole life cycle. Performed by composer Tod Machover (MIT Media Lab) for PBS's Confluence.
The cymbal was not printed: a 26-inch disc was waterjet-cut from sheet glass, then slumped to form in the kiln. Played by composer Tod Machover for PBS's Confluence, it records its own life cycle — cut, fused, slumped, played, and one day broken.
